OR EMET MINNESOTA

Or Emet Minnesota Congregation for Humanistic Judaism has provided this information about its history:

A small group of Twin Cities Jewish humanists, convened and led by Minneapolis oncologist Dr. Harold Londer, met informally in people’s homes until regular Friday evening Shabbat programs were organized in 1984. Informal children’s classes evolved into the Jewish Cultural School in 2002. The school now meets at the Friends School in St. Paul, and Shabbat services at the Minneapolis JCC. Or Emet is affiliated with the national Society for Humanistic Judaism and the International Federation of Secular Humanistic Judaism. Through these affiliations, we benefit from a network of resources. Humanistic Judaism is recognized as Judaism’s fifth branch by the United Jewish Communities.
