This
rather famous house has been home to two Mayors of St. Louis
Park: William M. Martin, and Phyllis McQuaid.
The following information is based on an incomplete set of
St. Louis Park directories, and corrections are welcome. We have William K Tuthill owning the house from 1956 to 1959, but it could be earlier and/or later than that. His wife was Helen and the occupation is listed as Gardner Hdw. The 1958 book clarifies that he is a driver for Gardner Hdw.
The McQuaid family bought the house on or before 1962. Joseph W. McQuaid was a Copy Desk Editor at the Star and Tribune. He and his wife Phyllis had 7 children. Phyllis McQuaid served as Mayor of St. Louis Park from 1980-82. Joseph died in 1993. Phyllis moved from her empty nest in 2007.
