PARK TAVERN

The original Park Tavern was located at 7201 Minnetonka Blvd. at Louisiana. It is unclear when the building was built - one possibility is 1906.  It was thought to be a grocery store at one time.

The 1941-42 directories list Esther's Tavern at that location.

In 1945 it was the Corner Tavern, owned by Mrs. Louise Howard.  It may have changed names, but in 1948 the liquor license still belonged to Louise Howard.

In 1952, the bar’s liquor license was transferred from E.J. Danielson to George G. Harrison and J. Phillip Jordan. The Harrison family lived up above the bar and fixed pinball machines.

By at least 1956 it was called the Park Tavern.  Phil Weber and his son Ben bought it on September 9, 1957.

In 1979, the City decided to widen Louisiana, and the PT had to move. The City tried to rent out the building but was unsuccessful.  Plans for Louisiana changed, and the City decided to wreck the building.  The wrecking ball made short work of the building in August 1981 and it became a municipal parking lot.

In 1980 a new entertainment complex was built at 3401 Louisiana, only four blocks away. The bar was expanded and bowling was added.
