ROGER L. LUNDQUIST SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Roger Lundquist served as assistant principal at Central Junior High from 1956 to 1958, when he died of a heart attack at age 40 on December 31. The St. Louis Park Parent Teachers Association Council developed the Roger Lundquist Scholarship idea during the school year 1958-59. The various PTA units would contribute to the fund, with a goal of awarding 10 $300 scholarships a year.

The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage worthy St. Louis Park High School graduates to prepare for a profession in education. The awards were meant to offset the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Criteria for the selection of candidates are: desire to teach, scholastic standing, character, personality, financial need, scholastic ability, and service to the school.
