SABES JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER

The Sabes Jewish Community Center started out as the St. Louis Park Jewish Youth Service, with mothers providing services to children of the Jewish families who had moved to the Park from North Minneapolis.  (See Jewish Migration) With the leadership of Al Tychman, the JCC came to Park in 1963, first on Republic Avenue and then in 1964 in its present location at 4330 Cedar Lake Road So. The architect was Austin Lange.  Its dedication ceremony in 1969 was attended by local, state, and national leaders, and was presided over by Hubert H. Humphrey.
