GEORGE W. GIBSON

George Gibson was born in Horicon, Wisconsin, home of the Monitor Drill. His family moved to St. Louis Park with the company when George was 27. He lived for many years at 6300 Goodrich Ave.

Gibson was truly civic minded: he joined the Fire Department in December 1936 and served for 40 years.  He also served as Village Treasurer for 18 years. He was a Mason and an Odd Fellow. He and his wife Ann had three children: Charles, Harold, and [Mrs. Herbert Leison of Duluth].

Gibson died at the age of 71 of a heart attack while on the way home from a Village affair. His stature in the community is reflected in the list of his pallbearers: Trenkley, Whalen, Dahlquist, C.L. Hurd, Renner, Mosely, Masters, Sorenson, Freeman, Ed and Joseph Werner, Earl Ainsworth, Guy, H. J. Bolmgren, Doc Brown, Nelson, Elias.
