BAHA’IS

The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of St. Louis Park was established in July 1974 at 2920 Jersey Ave. Chairman was Marilyn Hammond Jennings.

The Baha’i faith began in Persia (Iran) in 1844. Its leader, who called himself Bab (gate) and about 20,000 of his followers were executed for their beliefs by the Muslim clergy in 1850. In 1863, a man named Baha’u’llah was forced into exile and he died in Palestine in 1892.

Although Baha’is do not go to church, they do have houses of worship. Marilyn Hammond Jennings bought her home at 2920 Jersey for use as The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of St. Louis Park, where people gather for events and activities.

In 1986, the Baha'i Faith is listed in the phone book at 8817 W. 35th Street.

In 2007, the area Baha’i Center is located at 3634 Chicago Ave. in Minneapolis.
